Did you get married this year? Here's something you might not realize: Your filing status for the entire year is based on your marital status as of December 31. Generally couples find that filing jointly saves them the most taxes, but it's worth checking if filing separately makes more sense for you. Changed your name? Let the Social Security Administration know as soon as possible to avoid any refund delays. If you've moved, be sure to update your address with the IRS, the U.S. Postal Service and your employer, too. And don't forget: Within 10 days of getting married, submit a new Form W-4 to keep your withholdings on track. Have questions? Contact us.
