With the federal government partially shut down, you may be wondering about the effects on the IRS just as tax season opened on Jan. 26. Under a contingency plan, the IRS will use supplemental funding from the Inflation Reduction Act to keep its full staff on the job. According to the IRS, taxpayers can expect operations to continue as normal. This includes offices maintaining regular hours, availability of online self-service help tools and other services continuing as usual. However, the supplemental funding covers full IRS staffing only through Feb. 7. If you need help preparing your 2025 income tax return, please contact us.
